Matt. 7:15

Remember the Twilight Zone episode “To Serve Man”? I think its inherent for most people to expect the best intentions of others, even if they’re not from this planet. In today’s world we are confronted with the intentions from people, or cultures, we know little of. So when the giant alien said that all they wanted was to improve our lives, many took it hook line and sinker. It wasn’t until the end of the episode when the alien’s text was completely translated that people realized they were the entrée to an alien recipe book.

Through history man has always been tricked because we don’t want to believe that there are those who would do us harm; especially when we are so willing to lend a helping hand. We send billions of dollars to nations around the world with tax dollars and individual donations. Every time there’s a natural disaster Americans send monies, no matter what political, social, cultural, differences we may have. There is no more generous country on the planet than the United States. Yet we are hated by many. Why? In a word: Capitalism. Defined as: a free-market system: an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods, characterized by a free competitive market and motivation by profit.

It also means that with freedom there will be times we lose. Yes, I have had some successes in my life, but I’ve had far more failures. Some people think that failure is unfair; life should be wonderful for everybody. Nobody should go without any needs or wants. Maybe that’s why so many people are duped when they hear people make promises of a better life for everybody. For that matter, those who allow themselves to be duped because they believe everybody has good intentions. I say we should remember history – it does repeat itself – but always have skepticism, and patients, when dealing with people whom you know little of. Whether it be for political, social, or religious reasons, those who promote a totalitarian view say they want fairness for everybody, but ultimately do so to have complete control.

So is it wrong to question the motives of people? Is it wrong to question those who make promises which sound to good to be true? Some will claim that if you question, or if you mistrust, you will be called a fear monger, paranoid, cynical, racists, or partisan. I say it is good to question, and not to be gullible and naïve. You don’t want to be that person on the ramp entering the spaceship being told “IT’S A COOK BOOK! TO SERVE MAN!” By then, as Rod Serling would tell us, it far too late.

Hey everyone it’s Andrew. The New York and New Jersey area got hit hard with a blizzard last night. If you watched the blizzard cam on gfqlive.tv you saw all the action . More than a foot off snow has accumulated causing several towns and cities to declare a snow emergency. Several areas are also without power. Needless to say, we’re lucky to still have power. As you can see from the photos below, it’s a snow covered fantasy land out there.

So as many of you know I got a Motorola Droid and have spent the last 24 hours playing with this phone. A few problems that I have found are that the Battery life is horrible. after just a few hours of using the phone the battery is dead. The reason for this is that the Apps run in the background ( not like the Iphone where it turns it off as soon as you exit the app) . So what I did was download a app called Advanced Task Manager . The app allows you to turn off the apps you no longer want running

:::UPDATE :::

The Droid Does Support Multitouch

A Good friend of the network’s just relaunched her website http://www.theskinnypignyc.com . The Skinny Pig takes a different twist on food review. With a cynical and humorous writing style she has a very unique blog . Dara was born and raised in Queens ( Now living in Manhattan) on her blog she says ” I will try any type of food, as long as it doesn’t involve clams or oysters. Actually I take that back. I tried baked clams once, and that was only because they were covered with bread crumbs and basted with melted butter. Which leads to the next fact about me: I have a slight preference for fattening food and can eat quite large quantities of it, hence the nickname “Skinny Pig.” by today’s standards I’m not even “skinny” – a size 4 is considered fat in NYC but “The Average Pig” doesn’t have as nice of a ring to it.”

So if you like food with a side of Sarcasm check out http://www.theskinnypignyc.com .

I absolutely loved Jessica’s recent blog entry, and it got me thinking about the male point of view. At one point or another you will inevitably run into an ex. It could happen anywhere, anytime, shopping, during a night out or even amongst your circle of friends. So Stay Armed. Look your best all the times. Preferably always travel with a European model who speaks English “not so much”, and stay on that Minoxidil regiment. Let’s Face it guys we rarely get the upper hand. This is our chance for a little payback.

The approach

As soon as you recognize each other, approach her confidently and desperately try to mask the anxiety, pressure and discomfort. This feeling is difficult to describe, it’s sort of like somebody shoved a q-tip up your urethra. The key is confidence. Explain that you decided not to back horses anymore because fuel costs have risen for your Learjet. Joking aside, be yourself, your personality is part of what attracted her in the first place so let it shine through. Make sure to very conspicuously observe her appearance and offer a compliment. Girls love a man admiring their beauty. It will disarm her a little and make her smile…all good things.

What do you want out of this encounter?

Was this perhaps someone that you might want to see again or is this just a polite formality of running into someone. Look at her body language, notice her distance from you so you can evaluate weather she’s playing defense or not. How is the conversation flowing? If you want nothing to do with her make it quick and apologetically excuse yourself by saying “It was great seeing you!” OK, so you might still have feelings for her, if that is the case, offer the “Maybe I’ll give you a call sometime…” and gauge her response. If she says “Yeah, I don’t think so!” you probably shouldn’t, If she responds with interest and says “Yeah, OK sure.” You might have a shot, but remember there should be a 3 day waiting period before you call… Don’t be a desperate loser!

Hindsight

You will come away from that chance encounter and start to evaluate the turn of events. You will wonder if you said the right things, made a bad joke, or worse even exposed your vulnerability. This is a big”no no” for us guys. If you really pull yourself out of the situation it’s really all about the ego. Why do we care so much? Here’s the point really. If you’re worried about running into an ex you should get yourself a Porsche. They’re good for these sorts of things.

If your lucky enough to be the one that spots the ex before they spot you, you can evaluate how you look at that very moment. If you just ran to the store in your PJ pants to get some milk and your hair looks like something out of a horror movie, I would quickly do what I like to call “The Purse Search”…this is where you pull your extraordinarily large bag up to your face to “find that VERY important thing you lost” at this point you can turn and walk away…quickly…

If you are not so lucky, and he saw you first, try your very hardest to work that “interesting” look… by explaining it away.
Before reading on please realize that its 3:00 am and I’ve smoked a thousand cigarettes and had a number of drinks not yet defined by the continental measuring system. I find myself wondering weather it better to live well than long. You could grow up in an average nature.Get a “good job” put in your 25 years and settle into a sort of good retirement. Or you could have been born into the Jackson family. You have to wonder weather the king of pop would’ve been better off if he hadn’t been a king at all.

I sit here sleep deprived wondering if things could have worked out differently. What if the king decided to become a union carpenter or perhaps a cop or a firefighter. Thinks might not have turned out the same way. He probably would have lived a long and mundane life by standards of the elite.

I cant help but beg to question; would I rather make it to 50 and experience all of the glamor and privilege of a life of fame and fortune. Or live to 85 and never really know what its all about. Imagine if the world saw Marilyn Monroe or James Dean grow to old age and deteriorate.. Liz Taylor comes to mind. I don’t think she”ll be immortalized in quite the same way as icons that never had a chance to fade away before they burned out. See you Thursday.

My husband and I made our way down to the beach for the first time since we arrived in Aruba. It was early and the beach was nearly empty, we set out our lawn chairs right in front of the crystal clear blue water and dug a hole in the creamy white sand for our sunscreen and tanning lotion. It couldn’t have been a more perfect setting to kick start a honeymoon. It was the kind of picturesque view seen only in movies…except if was a movie the beach would have stayed empty and we both would have had frozen drinks in our hands without having to get up. We were brought back to reality when the many families arrived on the beach. A father and son placed their lawn chair right next to ours. Usually I love children, but if there is one place I would rather not see them, it would be sitting next to me on a beach (mainly because children are often very loud and the beach is a place where silence is the main selling point). The two took off their t-shirts and put sunscreen on and walked down to the water. As soon as the man was out of sight, my husband quickly turned to me and said “That man is an Aryan!” I didn’t believe him, but he had said it with such conviction, that I wondered where he had gotten that information from…its not really something that is written on a mans forehead…and I was right…according to Andrew it was written across the mans back in the form of a tattoo, the tattoo read “Aryan Dad”. “Aryan Dad” seemed to me like a weird choice for a tat that proclaimed to the world that he was proud to be part of a racist brotherhood. It then it occurred to me that is was completely possible for an Aryan to be a father and perhaps this guy was a modest Aryan, and only wanted one tattoo that said it all. When the man and his son came out of the water I noticed he was bald…that sealed the deal for me…Andrew had been right, the man really was a skinhead with a ridiculous tattoo. When he came closer, my theory of being a “modest Aryan” slowly crept out the window. He had several tattoos, one of Jesus and his crown of thorns over his heart, and a picture creepy demon baby on the right side of his chest. I hoped the man would turn around, so that I could get a good look at his “Aryan Dad” tattoo. When the man got back to his chair he called for his son Alex to join him on the sand. The little boy ran up the beach and his old man turned around to greet him…There written across his back in thick black letters was “Alex Dio“…

Once upon a time not very long ago (actually only about 27 hours ago), in a land about 15 minutes (by plane) from Venezuela, Lived a girl named Goldie Locks…(by lived I mean visited for 6 nights and by Goldie Locks I mean Jessica). Goldie Locks was just like any other girl from Queens, NY she was visiting Aruba with her Prince Charming for their Honeymoon, and she couldn’t be happier. She and her new Hubbie boarded their horse driven chariot or, Taxi as the locals here in Aruba call it, to take them to their castle…dreams of Strawberry Daiquiris and white sandy beaches filled their head as the drove up to the Marriott property. To their surprise their were 3 Marriott’s all in a row!
“Which one was theirs?” asked Jessica…I mean Goldie
“Which one was the nicest?” asked Andrew…I mean Price Charming
The driver told them that their castle was the best, and went on to explain that the Marriott Surf Club was the newest of the three properties and was the best of all three, actually it was brand new it was only built 2 years ago…The new couple had always shared the belief that newer was better and brand new was down right the best! The happy couple checked into their new home for the next 6 days, and started to realize their “brand new” castle was nothing more than a scam. Their room was nothing like what was promised in fact the type of room they had didn’t even appear on the Marriott website, which one can only assume means that Marriott was embarrassed by it. Problem after problem came up in a very short period of time and the couple wanted things to change they would have to face the Evil Dragon or “Front Desk Supervisor” as the Marriott here in Aruba calls her. The Evil Dragon, was big and mean, and full of attitude. She lures her pray with false promises and then EATS them…OK, she doesn’t eat them per-say, but she doesn’t come through with what she promised, and she is quite rude, which in this couples opinion is just as bad!
Fed up with what was happening in their castle, the couple wondered off to the next Marriott in the row, The Marriott Ocean Club. The two agreed that this one was nicer…It had lots of stores in the lobby and seemed to be free of an Evil Dragon…it was nicer then their hotel, even though it was a few years older than the property they were staying at. As they left the Ocean Club they saw a glimmer of light in the far off distance. They followed the light and came to the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. It was beautiful, the couple was aw-stricken. It had everything, 5 wonderful restaurants including a Ruth Chris Steak House, a beautifully designed lobby that looked as though it belonged in Miami Magazine, a casino that was open 24 hours a day, tons and tons of stores, and the best part of all a gellatto shop…there was a gellatto shop! Goldie Locks couldn’t believe her eyes, she had a lot of favorite foods, but if she had to pick one, gellatto would certainly be it…The couple couldn’t believe their eyes this hotel was the oldest of the three, but the nicest by far! It was gorgeous! It was everything they wanted in a castle and more! The two went over to Alvinino ( a short Arubian gay man, that resembled a chipmunk) and told him their story of woe. Alvinino or “Our Hero” as the couple would call them from that moment forward, sprung into action. He ran to the Marriott Surf Club and killed the Evil dragon…OK by killed we mean checked us out of our gross hotel and give us a great rate at the most beautiful Marriott of all…The Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. The couple lived happily ever after…for the next five days anyway…The End…
