      Hi Andrew,

So you are getting electric shocks on your machine? So did I on my HP which also has an aluminium as – I managed to solve the issue as follows. Basically it’s because voltage is leaking into your earth line somewhere in the house, making your earth not 100% neutral as it should be.

By turning mains fuses off for each part of the house, one by one (not all at once), we were able to isolate the room the issue was caused by. Within that room, we then uplugged various appliances one by one. The issue turned out to be due to the waching machine, which is a little old and so a small amount of current leaks from live to earth within its circuitry. Apparently, it is a VERY common problem for washing machines.

Now, when I want to use the PC I unplug the washing machine from the wall – problem (partly) solved – I no longer get electric shocks.

Another solution is to improve the grounding of your earth cable, or make sure that the earth is wet where the cable goes into the ground.

      Good luck,

      Ralph Purtscher-Wydenbruck
